Hey y'all! It's been a while. A lot has happened especially with Daniel but it seems like everything is fine so far. Hopefully it stays that way. Just watch your back y'all. Anyway, good job on that community event thing and finding the report on Lambert. I never cared much for Founders day after I moved away in '89 but it's nice to see it still being celebrated.
Onto the point of this post though. I've talked about Lambert for a while on this blog now, but I haven't talked details like that report did. And believe me, that report is fishy as hell. Not gonna ramble on about it too much but I just wanna go over some inaccuracies. If you wanna read it for yourself then go here: sites.google.com/view/walkercreektourism-n-iah/report-on-james-lambert 1. There was no rally against Joel Deckard in June. As far as I remember, there was a speech by Lambert where the crowd started shit talking Deckard and that was it. Could be wrong about this but the rallys all happened in rapid succession in July as far as I remember. 2. The rallies against Deckard weren't out of pocket attacks for no reason like that report makes it seem like. Can't believe I'm defending that son of a bitch Lambert but the rallies only started after Deckard started trashing Lambert in the local paper. And not in a politician bullshit indirect way either, but just plainly insulting him. 3. Nobody died in the fights between the supporters. That's ridiculous. 4. Lambert's construction projects weren't all secretive and didn't come out of nowhere. At least, most of 'em. I remember clear as day that the apartment building was planned even before he was elected. Part of his whole "Walker Creek...expansion initiative (?)" I think that's what it was called, I just remember the WCEI acronym so I'm guessing here). But it was a whole big plan long before the election took place, including the Tourism Bureau founding and apartment building and mall and I think the ice skating rink too. 5. The Kayak Race budget was low but people weren't really disappointed. It was fine the way it was. That's about all I can remember for the inaccuracies. Seems to me like the Tour Guide was bending some of the facts. Not enough to be called out for their bullshit but enough that it made Lambert look even worse. Wasn't really necessary in my opinion, he already looked like an incompetent goddamn idiot but I guess better safe than sorry if you're trying to take over. Anyway, might do another blog post soon on the last tape from Daniel so I'm caught up but I'll see about that one. Have a good day y'all. - Trevor

One thing that I have barely talked about on this here blog is all of the modern events in Walker creek. The reason is that well, I'm not in town for those events. It's 'memories of walker creek' not 'current events of walker creek', but I think I should still talk about it anyway. Especially with all the Media Archive stuff about it. Obviously, there's been a rise in rebel activity again. David Trenson in the 80's wasn't the end. Nowadays we've got Nathaniel Topas and Thomas Abernathy and "Sanders", plus others we've never heard of. And they're actually getting shit done. There was that observatory attack a while ago where they seemed to be pretty successful with whatever they were doing. There was that rebel, Thomas, that got captured. I feel bad for him, and anyone that has to deal with the skinwalkers. They're terrifying sons of bitches, I'll give 'em that. I've complained about them and their shit plenty of times on this blog but to be honest, seeing those hijackings and things like that from Topas gives me some hope that these Hosted will get what they deserve. It's the most successful rebellion so far, right? That's gotta count for something. They're right that people aren't free in Walker Creek, and they're the best chance at fixing that. If I was a younger man maybe I'd go try to help them out. But not nowadays.
I'll stop ranting about the rebellion to talk about other stuff. Mainly, Adam and the Tour Guide and whoever else. The Tour Guide wasn't really known publicly in my time, or if they were I just wasn't payin' attention. But they seem like a complete asshole. I know Adam does too but at least he's got some humanity. The Tour guide doesn't seem to have any. I would feel bad for the treatment Adam gets but I can't pity someone that tortures and kills humans for some alien plan. And speaking of that plan, there was that video of the Harvest Star. Pretty interesting to me since I never got to see it in '89. As you might know, I moved away a few months before it because of Julia's death. Just to say the obvious, that ain't a star. Or if it is, it's the weirdest star I've ever seen. I know that it's a conclusion we all figured out already but I just wanted to say it. Besides that, there's the Speaker message. He sounds like the priest I visited when I was a kid. He preached about the same shit, just without the direct references to the Harvest Star and Hosted like the Speaker did. Also, Sam Jones seems like he would be a good mayor if it wasn't for him being a goddamn alien. As a final note, the Lambert report was...weird. There's a few things that don't make sense to me but I'll do a short blog about that soon. Anyway, I'm finally done with the media archive breakdowns. If there's anything I missed or anything specific to talk about then tweet me or email me! - Trevor It's been a while, but it's time to continue with my context-giving blogs about the Media Archive (and hopefully finish it, I have some stories I wanna tell y'all). In this post, I'll be going over the 1980's posts. Question though...does anyone even read these anymore? Haven't seen y'all talk about even a single one of 'em in a while. Just let me know what you wanna see.
Anyway, going over the archive posts from the 1980's, we have the 4 TV hijackings, 3 radio hijackings, Ederson's execution, and the Luke Delor picture. I'm gonna just lump all the hijackings into one paragraph. But basically, I didn't see or hear any of these. I already explained why I didn't watch the WCBS much in a previous post. I heard people talking about 'em,but that's it. When the first one came on, people just played it off as some stupid prank. Creepy text on a plain background like that, it was some sort of amateur prank or a joke by the WCBS operators. The second one, people just thought it was just some teen delinquent messing around. Side note, the Lake Denton Kayak Race that the main program was about was a pretty lame one. My favorite team was the Lake Dwellers and it was not a good year for them. Anyway...that third hijacking was the one that really hit people. Seeing Luke and all that. I've talked about the 3rd and 4th hijacking before since they were on Daniel's channel but...that's when some people started taking it more seriously. Some still completely ignored them but some actually did start paying attention. That's where the radio hijackings come in too. Trenson went on there, did a little speech before he got kicked off by the radio operators, then just did it again a few weeks later. This went on for basically a whole year. Convinced a lotta people. Again, I didn't pay attention because of the situation with my shop and Julia and everything else in my life, but I heard it from a lot of the folks I talked to. Any crumb of drama in town was something that everyone heard about it, so I got information over time. It was a bit...harsh in my opinion, sorta scares people off unless they're really extreme. Maybe that's why it failed. Besides that, there was the Ederson execution video too. Same as Daniel's version but with the audio still there. The Tour Guide...what a goddamn mysterious person. And really, what is the reason? It just feels unnecessarily dramatic. Still sad to see Ederson go like that though...he was a good candidate. And then just to end this off real quick, there is that picture of Luke dead on the ground. Well, I say "dead", I guess it was some sort of Host body that was...shed. Those worms are confusing little bastards but at the same time, every animal is if you look deep enough. Learned enough about the game in Walker Creek that it's not too surprising. Seeing Luke always upsets me though. Kid didn't deserve what happened to him and it's just....cruel. Anyway, that's all I got. Sorry if it feels like my heart's not really in this one, but I'm just forcing myself through to finish up this media archive shit and go back to telling stories that y'all will hopefully enjoy, unlike these I guess. Might post the 2000's media archive blog today just to get it over with. - Trevor |
